Hitachi Shipbuilding will produce rubber made from Eucommia ulmoides. Recently, production technology has been established, and a small factory with an annual output of 50 tons has been established in China. In the future, we will conduct joint research with raw material manufacturers and continue to expand the use, and strive to reach the goal of annual output of 1,000 tons in 10 years.
Eucommia ulmoides is a tree native to China and grows on the plateaus of China with little rainfall. Hitachi Shipbuilding has developed a technology to efficiently extract rubber components from the skin of Eucommia ulmoides seeds. In the future, eucommia ulmoides will be improved on its own farm in China, and then the seeds will be collected and shipped to the factory for rubber production.
The rubber produced with Eucommia ulmoides has good performance in interrupting current and easing shock. The company believes that this kind of rubber is expected to be used in high-performance film and other fields, and will cooperate with large chemical manufacturers to develop various uses in the future.
