H + regulates the excretion of ammonia from zebrafish skin

Zebrafish is a new type of vertebrate, which is widely used in research fields such as developmental science, genetics, behavior and molecular biology.

In 2008, Professor Lin Liyi, a scientist in Taiwan, China, used "scanning ion-selective electrode technique (SIET)" to detect the H + and NH4 + flow of specialized cells on the skin of zebrafish larvae, the excretion of NH4 + and the zebrafish H + Secretion is highly correlated. The increase in the external pH and buffer concentration (5mM MOPs) reduced the H + and NH4 + gradients on the body surface. After H + -pump inhibitor (bafilomycin A1) or knockout of the H + -pump gene, it was found that the H + and NH4 + emissions were reduced simultaneously And coupled to each other. Knocking out Rhcg1 with morpholino oligonucleotides (MF) can also reduce NH4 + excretion. This study demonstrates that the ammonia excretion in zebrafish larval skin epithelial cells is regulated by the acidification mechanism and provides H +- Direct evidence that pump and Rh glycoprotein (Rhcg1) are involved in ammonia excretion.
