Color management is a prerequisite for ensuring print quality and is an important component of the printing process. There are many types of prepress software, and the color management and effects of each software are different. This article selects Photoshop and CorelDraw two software to use the menu to perform color management work, through experiments to obtain the same manuscript after different software color management proofs. Through comparative analysis of two different sheets, different color management capabilities of Photoshop and CorelDraw software are obtained.
1. The importance of software color management
The color copying process is the transfer process of colors in different color spaces, different devices, and different application software. The size of the color gamut in different spaces is different, the color rendering characteristics of different devices are different, the color transfer needs to be converted, and the color management requires color management to match. This article introduces the basic settings of color management for image processing software Photoshop and graphic design software CorelDRAW. After using the same ICC file through the color management of the two software, output proofs, and analyze and draw conclusions. The two softwares use the same ICC file to display the scanned images and obtain the corresponding samples.
Through the basic settings of the two software color management, we can get the similarities and differences between the software.
1.Photoshop can use configuration files for CMYK and RGB modes, but CorelDRAW's color management is basically based on RGB mode. The input CMYK file configuration file can not work, nor can the output CMYK file embed configuration file
2. After CorelDRAW changes the configuration file in the "Color Management" dialog box, it will not cause the color value of the image or graphic on the page to change. That is, the configuration file change is equivalent to assigning the color value of these objects to another color space. Make color space mapping.
3. Neither Photoshop nor CorelDRAW can specify different configuration files for different objects on the page.
Second, the contrast experiment of Photoshop and CorelDraw's color management capabilities

â‘ Make ICC file.
For this experiment, I chose the IT8.7 / 2 color table for operation. Open ProfileMaker5.0 and select the scanner, as shown in Figure 1, ReferenceData selects the txt file of IT8.7 / 2 included in the software, MeasurementData selects the scanned tif file of IT8.7 / 2, Profilesize selects large, PerceptualRenderingIntent Select NeutralGray (neutral gray). Click start to generate an ICC feature file named 12, and keep it in the system folder.
â‘¡ Calibration of the monitor
The monitor is the designer's first observation target, but after a period of time, the monitor's contrast, brightness, and color rendering will be attenuated, resulting in inaccurate color display (including Apple computers). Therefore, it is necessary to calibrate the monitor after a period of time.
This experiment was corrected using Eye-onematch software. Follow the prompts given by the software step by step, and finally generate mst.icc after correction and save it to the corresponding location. Then perform Properties-Settings-Advanced-Color Management on the desktop, add the mst.icc you just saved and press OK, so the monitor calibration is just fine.

Photoshop
Open the scanned image in Photoshop, perform editing → specify the configuration file, and select the ready-made mashuoting.icc in the configuration file. Then execute Edit → Convert to Configuration File to convert the space to Lab space.
Then set the print preview to let Photoshop determine the color. Just print out.
coreldraw
Open corlldraw and execute Tools → Color Settings. Then make advanced settings for color management (choose absolute colorimetric), and then import the scanned image printout.
4. Experimental results
Finally, get three proofs through the corrected printer, and use the spectrophotometer to extract the third and ninth color patches of each sheet and compare them with the original.
5 Conclusion
Through the above experiment, we can find that in the two software, Photoshop's color management is more ideal, and Coreldraw's color management ability is a bit worse in comparison. Therefore, Photoshop's color management is more widely used in life.
