IS0 Releases Print Safety Standards
Recently, the International Standards Organization voted to pass ISO 12648 "Printing Technology - Printing Machinery Safety Assurance System". Once all the details have been discussed and formulated, the standard system will be implemented this fall.
This is the first time that the International Standards Organization has specifically established safety standards for printing machinery. This standard incorporates the draft of the printing machinery standard developed by the American International Standards Organization B65.1 “Standard System for Printing Machinery Safety Standards†and CEN. It is the result of years of work of experts from Brazil, Japan, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The standard applies to printing machinery systems. All mechanical drive equipment including auxiliary machinery are controlled by the same control system. It puts forward safety requirements for the design and manufacture of machinery, and discusses dangerous accidents known to all in printing machinery, including mechanical protection devices, non-mechanical dangerous accident protection, adjustment management devices, warning signal devices, and so on.
