Scanner Common Faults and Solutions

1. The "SCSI card not found" prompt appears when you turn on the scanner.

A fuse is set on the SCSI card. When a bad circuit condition is encountered, the voltage is unstable or a short circuit is automatically disconnected. When the line is good or the measured temperature decreases, it is automatically connected.

2. There is a lot of noise when scanning.

This is caused by the movement of the mechanical part while the scanner is working and is closely related to the scanning speed. According to the specific software of each brand machine, setting the scanning speed to medium or low speed can solve the problem.

3. Cannot find the scanner.

Make sure the scanner is turned on before you start the computer. If not, press the Refresh button in the Device Manager to see if the scanner has a self-test and if the green light is on steadily. If the answer is yes, you can rule out the possibility of a malfunction of the scanner itself. If the scanner's light blinks continuously, it indicates that the scanner is not functioning properly. Check if there is a problem with the interface cable between the scanner and the computer, and if the scanner driver is installed. In addition, you should check whether the scanner in the Device Manager conflicts with other devices, IRQ or I/O address. If there is a conflict, you can change the jumper on the SCSI card.

4. The scanner light is orange.

If you turn on the scanner and its light is always orange, turn the scanner off and check that the scanner is plugged into the outlet and grounded. Open the scanner power switch after about 60 seconds.

5. The scanner's Ready light is off.

After turning on the scanner, if it is found that the Ready light is off, first check the internal lamp of the scanner. If the internal lamp is bright, it may be related to room temperature. The solution is to turn off the scanner after turning on the scanner for half an hour. After 1 minute and then open it, the problem can be solved. If the scanner still does not work at this time, turn off the scanner first, disconnect the connection between the scanner and the computer, set the SCSI ID value to 7, and then turn on the scanner after about 1 minute. When the temperature is low in winter, it is best to warm up a few minutes before use, so that the Ready light does not turn on after power on.

If the scanned image is not bright enough, you can adjust the brightness, contrast, and gamma of the monitor first. The gamma value is a sensory curve of the human eye from dark tone to bright tone.

The higher the gamma value, the richer the level of perceived color. The gamma value can be adjusted in the scanner's own scanning application software. Of course, in order to obtain better results, you can also adjust the gamma value in software such as Photoshop, but this is an “adjustment afterwards” and you can adjust the gamma value according to the specific situation of your shot. In the software that comes with the scanner, the gamma value is usually set to 1.4 if it is a general purpose, and to 1.8 if it is used for printing; the photograph on the webpage is set to 2.2. Also, the scanner should be color-corrected before use, otherwise it is very likely to distort the scanned image; in addition, the “Brightness/Contrast” option in the scanner driver dialog box can be adjusted specifically.

7. The screen scanned by the scanner is blurred in color and some colors are incorrect.

The reason is as follows

1. It may be that the scanner's plate glass is dirty. Please clean this glass with a clean cloth or paper. Be careful not to wipe it with a liquid such as alcohol. This will give the scanned image an iridescent color.

2) Please check the resolution of the scanner. Such as 300dpi scanner scan 1200dpi above the image will be more blurred. Because the 300dpi scanner scans 1200dpi, it is equivalent to a point four times larger.
