[ppzhan Abstract] Recently, the Printing Committee of the China Press Association released the 2012 National Newspaper Printing Survey Report, and the total printing volume of national newspapers dropped by nearly 3%. The investigation of the total print volume of the national newspapers in 2012 has recently ended. The survey units include 146 newspaper printing factories across the country. The total number of newspapers printed by the 146 printing units in 2012 was 114.109 billion printed sheets.
The scope of this survey is the same as last year. The total print volume of the survey is 70% of the total print volume of the national newspaper. Based on this calculation, the total number of national newspapers printed in 2012 was 163 billion printed sheets, which was 2.86% lower than the 177.8 billion printed sheets in 2011. The annual consumption of newsprint was 3.66 million tons, which was 2.92% lower than the 3.77 million tons in 2011. The annual printing volume of national newspapers, after a decline in 2008 and 2009 and the growth in 2010 and 2011, the total printing volume of national newspapers in 2012 decreased by nearly 3%.
In 2012, there were 67 units with negative growth in printing volume, accounting for 46% of 146 units. In 2011, the number of negative growth in printing was 28, accounting for only 19%. The Peninsula City Newspaper Printing Factory is growing for two consecutive years, at 1.44% and 3.41% respectively.
From the annual printing volume of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China, the positive and negative growth of printing accounts for 50% each. Among them, Guangdong Province, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai, Hainan Province, Sichuan Province, Chongqing City, Liaoning Province and Jilin Province have declined more. Hubei Province, Tibet Autonomous Region, Qinghai Province, Gansu Province and Hebei Province have increased more. The Peninsula City Newspaper Printing Factory is the only one in Shandong Province to enter the top ten.
From the six major regions of the country, the northeastern region, the eastern region, the central and southern regions, and the southwest region have experienced negative growth, and the northwest region has grown substantially, and the north China region has remained basically flat.
