New Generation of Antioxidant LLDPE Packaging Materials Successfully Launched

[China Packaging Network News] A new generation of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) packaging materials containing ADDIVANT WESTON 705 antioxidants has been successfully launched.

WESTON 705 has been approved for use by more than 20 major polymer manufacturers in the world. It is currently the only liquid anti-oxidant that meets the needs of polyethylene manufacturers, a single solution that has been extensively tested to meet the requirements of manufacturers of plastics processing and packaging materials worldwide.

In the United States, Europe and Asia, WESTON 705 antioxidants will bring a new standard for the safety, performance and production efficiency of food packaging materials.

With the advent of these new commercialized packaging materials and applications, the entire value chain is verifying the enhancement of the performance of the new generation of liquid phosphite anti-oxidants from Asia Pacific.

"Because of the high phosphorus content, WESTON 705 reduces the use of antioxidants by up to 20%, making plastic formulation more flexible and recyclable," said Dr. Jonathan Hill, chief technology officer of Asia Pacific. “The WESTON 705 with the polyethylene containing traditional solid antioxidants is easier to process, uses a wider area, and produces less precipitates and gels.”

It is reported that by the end of 2017, Asia Pacific will expand the production capacity of WESTON 705 in Morgan City, West Virginia and China by 5 times in early 2016.
